Why use an on-camera monitor?

Exceptional for In-Door & Outdoor shooting
The BenQ PVS7 on-camera monitor performs well in both indoor and outdoor lighting conditions. Thanks to its bright screen and anti-glare panel, you can clearly see your shots even in direct sunlight, which makes it easier to frame and focus. The simple menu and physical buttons give you quick access to useful tools such as focus peaking, enabling you to work quickly and efficiently.
The monitor comes with a protective cage and reinforced edges, and can survive drops of up to 1.5 metres, so you can rest assured that it will be protected if it accidentally falls. A two-way shading hood is included for both horizontal and vertical shooting to help block reflections and improve screen visibility outdoors. Moreover, thanks to its fanless cooling system, it remains quiet and cool, even during long shoots in hot weather or under warm studio lights.
Conclusion
Having spent some time with the BenQ PVS7 on-camera monitor, I found it truly impressive and I’m quite reluctant to go back to my previous setup. One of the first things I noticed, and really appreciated, was the screen size. At 7 inches, it’s larger than my previous on-camera monitor, which makes a huge difference when it comes to framing and checking focus during shoots. The anti-glare panel is another notable feature, keeping the display clear even under strong lights, which is often the case when filming food content with studio LEDs.
In my workflow, especially when filming recipe videos, shoots can be long. They often involve a lot of heat, from lighting as well as kitchen appliances such as ovens. With my previous monitor, overheating and rapid battery drainage were constant issues, necessitating unwanted breaks to cool things down or change the battery. The PVS7 has completely transformed this experience. It stays cool, runs silently thanks to its fanless design and is impressively power-efficient. This is particularly important when recording sound, as the absence of fan noise helps to ensure clean audio. I’ve found it to be incredibly reliable in time-sensitive shooting environments, such as when filming recipe videos, where you can’t afford delays or missed shots.
