Fine dining inside the golden gates of Château de Versailles is, since a few years back, now possible thanks to Alain Ducasse‘s gastronomic restaurant Ore. As a quite regular visitor at the Château de Versailles, I felt it was time to try out this restaurant two weeks ago and I am happy I did.
Its a very spacious place, minimalistic design yet sparkling in gold. Many parts of the restaurant are in different shades of gold, even the tables are covered in gold. And through the windows of the restaurant you’ll be overlooking the Royal courtyard the courtyard of Honour. Its a perfect place to come and have a meal in a relaxed atmosphere, either before or after a visit to Château de Versailles. During my visit I had a half-smoked salmon with lemon cream and rye bread as a starter. And as a main course, Scottish salmon with potatoes and béarnaise sauce which was very delicious. I finished with a sweet soufflé made on verbena and raspberry that came with a refreshing raspberry sorbet.
Practical information:
Depending on the day, at Ore you will find breakfast, Afternoon-Tea, lunch and dinner to be served. Combine your visit to Château de Versailles, and relax with a gastronomic experience at Ore. The restaurant is very often busy so I would highly advise you to pre-book your table online. So you can be ensured to have a seat in this extraordinary place. On their website, you can also find the menu of the season, both for the breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is located just near the main entrance of Château de Versailles, to your right before going to the entrance to the gardens.
