La Galette des Chefs la Galette du Coeur 2017
For the 13th consecutive year great pastry-chefs and Michelin starred chefs gathered at Place St-Germain des Prés last Saturday donating several of their Galettes des Rois, to be sold in favor of the POIC association to help children with orphan illness. I joined up together with my dear friend Parisbreakfast, who introduced me to this wonderful event 3 years ago, and browsed through the beautiful galettes. The gourmet gastronomic catering company Potel Et Chabot , participated for the 5th year in a row at the event, had made a giant Galette des Rois. I bought two slices, and it was EXTREMELY delicious. I can’t find a better way to start the year!
Epiphany in France is celebrated with the Galette des Rois (Kings Cake). A pastry dough cake filled with yummie frangipane (almond paste). Some of the chefs that donated galettes this year was Pierre Hermé, Eric Kayser, Christian Constant, Hélène Darroze, Pierre Gagnaire, Cédric Grolet, Christian Le Squer and Thierry Marx. The event is organized by Disiples d’Auguste Escoffier after initiative of Jean-Pierre Biffi.
I will not keep you long, head down and have a look on the gorgeous galettes! And if you are in Paris next year around the same date, DO come by!
