Happy Birthday to me

Marie-Antoinette Buchette Ladurée
Today I turned 33 years…young. Best part of turning older ? Getting to eat cakes and pastries..as if I didn’t do that on a daily basis ;-) Shhh…..

Pale pink roses and a pretty Marie-Antoinette buchette for me earlier this morning. My mom always used to bring me a “prinsesstårta” (Swedish for Princesscake”) always with a pink rose on top in the morning of my birthdays. Traditions should be kept…but I found it tricky to find a yummie prinsesstårta in Paris? I could have baked my own…but to save time..I found a substitute instead..a very pretty one !

Marie-Antoinette was a lover of sweets, just like me, and Ladurée have acctually named one of their creations after her. Back in the days when I was working at Ladurée in Paris I remember how I fell in love with their Marie-Antoinette cake the very first time I tried it and promised myself to have it for my birthday one day…It’s not in their regular collection, but they do have it in the Spring or Summer…and luckily, now for Christmas they a Christmas edition, Marie-Antinette Rose Yule Log…perfect for my birthday!

Decorated with a snowflake and a fresh raspberry, covered by pink almondpaste… The “Marie-Antoinette” consists of a soft rose macaron base, delightful rose petals creme, raspbery jam, fresh raspberries and lychees…simply delightful and a perfect sweet beginning of my birthday :-)

I used to be a chocolate girl but the first time I had a Princess Torte baked at a from-scratch bakery it became my favorite treat by far. I have a piece on my birthday every year – my birthday is in August so I’m hoping there will also be some in September for our next visit to Paris. But this yule log looks awfully good!!!
