Bagni della Regina Giovanna

Bagni della Regina Giovanna

Bagni della Regina Giovanna was one other place we hiked to during our stay in Italy. Dorina had highly recommended this hike from Massa Lubrense and one morning she dropped us off on a beach were we started to walk the path to the remains of the bath of Queen Joan d’Anjou (Giovanna), one of Sorrentos most important archeological sites.

When we arrived to Capo di Sorrento we continued on an old Roman road, same road as Roman patricians, princes and princesses once upon a time have walked to their villas located along this path, with olive and lemon groves and beautiful gardens that you could have a glimpse of through the iron fences.

In that turqoise water, it’s said that the Queen Giovanna D’Anjou (Queen of Naples) used to bath accompanied by her young lovers. If that is true or not we will never know…but next time I will go there when it’s warmer, would love to take a refreshing dip in that crystal clear lagoon with its limestone archway…
