Picnic by Canal Saint-Martin

Canal St Martin
Picnic in Paris? Then find some free space along the canal bank of Saint-Martin and enjoy the vibrant and bohemian atmosphere in the neighborhood. When my friend from Stockholm was in Paris a while ago one of his wishes was to eat cheese, after all that is one of the specialities of France ;-) David Leibovitz had listed a few good fromageries (cheese shops) and among them I found La Vache dans les Vignes situated next to the Canal Saint-Martin. With the sun shining we opted to sit outside and decided to have a picnic / cheese tasting along the canal. The cheese expert at La Vache dans les Vignes presented a few types of cheeses and we left with three different ones and a bottle of wine and pear cider. Unfortunately they had no bread but recommended us going to “Aux Pêchés Normands BIO” (an organic boulangerie / bakery) where we got one baguette that they kindly sliced for us. Great company, delicious cheese, yummie bread – the recipe for a perfect picnic along the Canal Saint Martin ;-)
