Sugarplum Cake Shop

Sugarplum Cake Shop
Sugarplum Cake Shop, I’ve had warm recommendations about their different cakes, especially their signature carrotcake and not long ago I walked up the Rue du Cardinal Lemoine in order to have a piece of it myself. When I arrived and finally decided to go for a cup of hot chocolate and a piece of carrotcake, in total 9,50 € their limit for taking cards was 10€…having no cash on me (reminder to myself, CASH is KING in France) I asked if I could pay 10€ with my card and they could keep the difference ? My kind proposal was turned down and I was totally turned off. If I had not had all those recommendations..and that darn sweet tooth of mine I wouldn’t have returned…but I went and took out some cash.
If the service at Sugarplum Cake Shop dissapointed me, their carrotcake certainly did not. Wow…it was the perfect and most delicious carrotcake I’ve ever had. Three layers, yummie smooth cream cheese frosting in between, perfect balance between the sweet topping and the soft spongy carrot filled layers. Unfortunately I could not enjoy this moment very much because of all the noise in the café…but I would definately go back, ONLY for their carrotcake. Important to have in mind, go there early if you want some peace and quite time.

Their carrotcake from behind, not as sexy as the back of Notre Dame, but it’s the inside that counts, right ;-)
