Galette Des Rois

Lohezic's Galette Des Rois

Jocelyn LOHEZIC won the prestigious prize of making the best Galette des Rois 2014 in Île de France. I would have had no clue about this unless my friend Carol, always up to date with everything in the pastryworld, hinted me about his boulangerie… and as there is no limit for how many Galette Des Rois I can eat, I will keep continuing enjoying this yummie treat even though we’ve passed the Ephphany, the day when this galette is usually eaten!

Yesterday evening, after work, I took my bike and tracked down the boulangerie. The disadvantage of always working overtime and late in the evenings is that most of the boulangeries and pâtisseries are closed when I leave the office. Luckily Lohezic’s boulangerie keep their doors open until 20h30! I arrived in the heaven of Galette des Rois…so many different ones and sizes to choose between. I also met Lohezic himself that kindly explained they had won the prize but I didn’t realize it was him until I came home…I know..embarassing…would have wanted to congratulate him for the prize! I guess I only had Galette Des Rois on my mind….. The classic one, with frangipane joined me home and I promise to share the rest of the story in short….
