Dinner at Restaurant BON in Paris, a très bon choix! Not long ago I went there with my friend Jo and her brother that was here on a visit in Paris. Started to celebrate the evening (yes, every single evening and day is acctually worth celebrating in Paris) with champagne! As a starter I had avocado, mango and shrimp tartare, perfect combo, sweet and very fresh. The maincourse I had was the Black cod “c’est BON” (cod marinated in soya sauce, sweetened in sake vinegar and caramelized) which was one of their signature dishes and the cod was perfectly prepared! I love fish but can get really dissapointed when I’m served fish that has been overcooked and has got a chewy texture. This cod was crispy on the outside and moist, lean and simply delicate inside. I had a quite moment there and just when straight to food heaven while enjoying my cod. Dessert? Coconut soup with fresh mango and passion fruit, a sweet delight!
Can’t wait to go to Restaurant BON again to try their other dishes, the French/Asian fusion cuisine can end up in delicious results if you know how to bring out the best of the two worlds and combine them. Their restaurant chef, Michelin-starred Yannick Papin, is doing a great job (always a good sign when I want to return to a restaurant). Oh, did I mention it’s Philippe Starck did the decoration at Restaurant BON? Now you know…and I promise to take some more photos of the interior because it was very cozy and cool. Different rooms with different themes such as library, intimate boudoir, chimney room…and the bathroom walls where covered in marble, loved that! The owners of Restaurant BON are the couple Philippe and Fabienne Amzalak who also owns the restaurant Cocotte in St Ouen (the flea-market area) where Philippe Starck also did the decoration and where Yannick Papin also the the restaurant chef ;-) Why ruin a concept that is working very well?
