Metro Franklin D.Roosevelt in Paris Franklin D.Roosevelt metrostation

Franklin D.Roosevelt must be the most pimped up metro station in Paris. It was under renovation for a couple of years and in 2011 it turned up in a very bling-bling style. I remember how it looked before, and I do believe it needed a “face-lift”…but what happened with the beautiful gilded letters forming Franklin D.Roosevelt? Wish they would have kept them….

Anyway, as you can see in my photos there are gilded tiles and chandeliers with low light…and there are also touch screens and screens advertizing campaigns and cultural programs. The chairs are in shiny black and the name of the station in black written in different languages. It looks like a nightclub…it acctualy reminds me of Silencio, the nightclub in Paris designed by David Lynch.

If you want to experience this gilded metro station you will find it on metro line 1 ;-)
