I’m totally blessed living in St Germain, surrounded by GROM, PAULs, Ladurée, La Palette, Montana, Jardin du Luxembourg…..I really don’t need to take a step out of my neighbourhood, I’ve got everything that I need and that fulfills my life here :-) I’m a pain aux raisin addict, I can’t start my morning without a fresh baked crispy (outside) and soft pain aux raisin. What I also like is pavé au chocolat…heavinly delicious! Jean-Pierre Carton‘s patisserie, Carton (6 Rue de Buci) is situated only 2 minutes from me and their pain aux raisins and pavé au chocolat are totally to die for! Go there in the morning and have a fresh baked one. But never on a Monday when they’re closed ;-)
The perfect pain aux raisin (according to me) is made with leavened butter pastry (and NOT brioche dough!) and with raisins and crème pâtissière. Pavé au chocolat is also made with leavened butter pastry and instead of raisins chocolate chips are added.
