I <3 Paris

love-parisI know, shame on me, but I couldn’t resist buying one of the most typical tourist souvenir from Paris – the Eiffel Tower keyring…. One of the most ugliest buildings in the world, according to me, yet a great symbol of Paris, since you can see the tower almost from wherever you are when you’re in the city. So what couldn’t be better than having my own miniature Eiffel Tower, next to my gilded heart from Paris? Small details but things that evokes so many feelings. Now it’s on my window frame in my bedroom so that I can see it whenever I wake up and just before I go to sleep :-)

Leaving Paris

shuttlebus-parisYesterday evening it was time to leave my beloved Paris. Luckily it was a sunny day, around 15 degrees…so I had been strolling around in the city during the whole day….and then took a long break in the beautiful square, Place des Vosges..which is the perfect place for those sunny days.

The photo above was taken when I was in the shuttlebus on my way to the airport, on the bridge Pont d’Alexandre…in the background you can see the Louvre.

Can’t wait to plan my next trip to Paris…until then I will go through my photos and share them with you ;-)

Le Baron + Gazelle + Copenhagen = <3

Baron party in Copenhagen

The first after-party during the Fashionweek last week was definately the best after-party I’ve ever been to in Copenhagen. The Parisian club Le Baron + Gazelle….best combination ever ;-) Acctually the first time I saw Gazelle performing live was at Baron in Paris together with my friend Mo Laudi who also performed together with them. It was in June 2010 when I was living in Paris and that night turned out to be the beginning of my crazy party nights in Paris…so it was definately great to see the performing live again. The Danish group Vinne Who made also a great performance and DJ LeAm from Paris was simply awesome. He use to play at Baron and Montana in Paris so that kind of says it all ;-) The party was an after-party to the Henrik Vibskov fashionshow during the Fashionweek in Copenhagen, held at the Old Stock Exchange, Børsen.

A cup with sinful…

Angelina in Paris

When I’m up for a sugarcoma deluxe in Paris I endulge myself with a cup with velvety creamy and rich hot chocolate at Angelina Tea Salon that is located under the arcades of the Rue Rivoli in Paris. They have got several different hot chocolates on their menu and the one I usually pick is the classic one, le chocolat chaud à l’ancienne L’Africain – their signature hot chocolate.

Once you’ve had their hot chocolate (or a typical chocolat chaud à l’ancienne in France) a “hot chocolate” will never be the same. A cup with hot milk stirred with cocoa powder will be a faded memory….the real thing is hot milk and cream stirred with chopped 70% bittersweet chocolate so it becomes creamy and thick and then it’s served with whipped cream.

When you’ve been served and have prepared your cup, sit back, relax and enjoy the gilded ironworks and the beautiful mirrors in the tea salon decorated by the famous belle époque architect Edouard-Jean Niermans. The tea salon was established in 1903 by the Austrian confectioner Antoine Rumplemayer and it has been a favourite among persons such as Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn.

Angelina is not only famous for their hot chocolate, the house specialty is the Mont Blanc, that I will introduce to you in a later blogpost ;-)

Summer in Paris

Summer in Paris

Summer in Paris is great but personally I prefer the Spring when the beauty of Paris is re-born each year…or the Autoumn with all the colour changes of the leaves in the trees. During summer time I let the big crowd of tourists have their piece of Paris…while I go to a place close to the sea. Last year I went to Deauville but also a couple of times to the island Ile de Ré….this time I will go to a new place – also called the paradise on earth. To be continued ;-)

La Fête Nationale

La Fête Nationale

Today (July 14th) is a very special day, it is the French National Day…and I so wish I could be there now. But soon, very soon, me and Paris will be together again. Love ;-)

The best memory I have from la Fête Nationale in France is when I was at my friends apartment situated at Île Saint-Louis and I was laying in the sun-bed on the terrace …suddenly I heard the noises of the planes and then I saw the whole aircraft of the Patrouille de France aerobatics team flying above me…….couldn’t have had a better view and it’s definately one of the best memories I have from Paris.

At the same time as the military aircraft is flying in the sky there is a large military parade going through Champs-Élysées in Paris. I’ve never seen it but I guess it must be pretty crowded…But I do recommend to go to Champs de Mars in the evening..just to have a look at the beautiful fireworks behind the Eiffel Tower.

The National Day is also called the Bastille Day because that’s the day when Bastille (a prison in Paris) was destroyed and the king of France overthrown…

Dîner au Mama Shelter à Paris

Mama Shelter restaurant in Paris

Dîner au Mama Shelter à Paris…(=dinner at Mama Shelter in Paris)… “un endroit branché et très sympa“…according to many Parisians..which means a trendy and nice place. And I totally agree since I went there at least once a week when I was living in Paris. As you already know my favourite starter at their restaurant is salmon with avocado and pickled radish…and this time I had mussels for maindish. And I had a “mocktail sans alcool” called Kool And The Gang with fresh mint, elderflower and mineral water….very fresh..and cool ;-)

And yes, that’s me on the photo above..taking another egopic in the mirror in the bathroom at Mama Shelter…together with my favourite leopard-printed scarf…that I forgot to bring with me when I left Paris.

All Saints in Paris

All Saints in Paris

Staring on the interior – the first thing I do rather than checking out the new collection…that’s me in a nutshell. This is one of my favourite stores in Paris, All Saints! Love the old Singer sewing machines they have in their shopping windows, the bricks on the walls and the industrial lamps. Besides their interior I love their boots (I have some pairs) and their printed shirts, leather jackets and outerwear…. I would describe the style of their clothes as vintage meets industrial with a warm and soft touch of bohemian.

Brunch at Café Charlot in Paris

Brunch at Café Charlot in Paris

Café Charlot in Paris is one of my favourite places for having an utterly delicious brunch at. It is a place I discovered when I moved to Paris in January 2010 and ever since I had my first brunch there I fell in love. Love affair deluxe I would call it…

As you can see in the photo above, me and my friends all went for their classic brunch menu: fresh squeezed orange juice, hot chocolate (to die for! Thick and creamy texture….), pain perdu, toast, cherry tomatos and shallots, fresh fruit salad, scrambled organic eggs with smoked salmon and soft chive cream cheese. Can you ask for more? This is THE place to bring your friends for some Sunday chillaxing and gossiping (ofcourse! we all want to know what happened last night at the party if your memory failed on you…) while endulging yourselves with a delicious brunch.

Café Charlot is located in the Marais district and is situated just across the Marché des Enfants Rouges (the oldest food market in Paris). It is a bistro with a retro interior and a very fashionable clientel…oh yes, this is the place were you can see the trendy Parisians almost fighting for a free table inside Café Charlot…..

It’s definately the place to be, either if you want to have a delicious brunch…or just be in the middle of a fashionshow ;-)

p.s. I’m not into burgers BUT Café Charlot‘s actual specialty is the cheese burger...which all my friends gives the thumb up for. So if you share the same passion, Café Charlot is the place!

La fête du Muguet

MuguetToday its May 1st and it is also the day when French people are waving these beautiful porte-bonheurs (lucky charms) through the air and wishing each other good luck!

La Fête du Muguet (muguet = Lily of the Valley) and La Fête du Travail in France, are a public holiday to celebrate workers right and also an occasion to present the fragrant Spring flower, the lily of the valley to loved ones. When I was living in Saint Germain in Paris I remember that some representatives from Croix-Rouge française (the Red Cross) used to sell this fragrant Spring flower on the street. The photo above is acctually the muguet I bought from them on May 1st in France 2010….

Wish you all a bonne fête du muguet!
