A luxurious Italian Tea Salon where you can indulge in the most exquisite gelato, delightful tea and tasty coffee, welcome to Il Gelato del Marchese!
My first encounter with this ice cream parlour was at La Grand Epicerie were I passed by during hot summer days and cooled down with their sorbets from their temporary stand, but it wasn’t until I was invited to a cocktail evening at the Italian Embassy together with Parisbreakfast where I had the occasion to explore their divine products, from sweets to savouries.
Just before Christmas I was invited for a delightful gelato tasting. As the gelato lover I am I was excited when I got so many different flavours served in small cristal bowls on a silver stand. Among the flavours I tried was the delicious chestnut gelato, yellow kiwi sorbet, pistachio (Iranian pistachio awarded best pistachio ice cream in 2015 in France) , chocolate, red pear and their homemade panna montata (whipped cream). Their gelato is very rich and intense in taste and their sorbets are like eating the fruit itself…pure flavour thanks to the very little sugar that is added. In short, their gelato is tasty and intense evoking a refreshing and magical moment which simply has to be experienced!
At Il Gelato del Marchese you’ll find gelato with flavour that is intense and pure evoking a magical and refreshing moment
The Italian Salon de Thé, Il Gelato del Marchese, is located in the heart of St Germain, in fact in my old neighbourhood Odéon. Back in the days I used to have dinner at the Italian restaurant Il Suppli quiet often and it was funny when I recently found out that it’s the same owners of Il Gelato del Marchese. I do remember the great quality of the food and that is something that you can expect at the Tea Salon as well. Only with quality ingredients fresh seasonal products you can achieve to create an excellent gelato!
The owners, the businessman Renato and his creative wife Veronika, originally fr Sienna respectively Rome, had a dream of making the best artisanal ice cream. Together with the Italian Maître Glacier Marco Radicioni, rewarded as the Best Ice Cream Artisan in Rome, their dream became true and opened Il Gelato del Marchese in the late 2014. The secret to a perfect gelato is ofcourse the excellence of the ingredients used, and at Il Gelato del Marchese they put value in respecting the nature and prioritize organic products as much as possible. For example they use whole milk from a small organic farm in Milly-la-Foret sourced by La Laiterie des Bas Vignon in Milly-la-Foret and mineral water for the sorbet. No colorings, no preservatives, no additives or chemicals is. Here you will experience the authentic taste of the flavour with only 20% added raw sugar. Their sorbet is certified by The Vegan Society and are 100% lactose-free and contain no product from animals or animal tested. Also good to know is that their gelato is gluten-free.
The Tea Salon is tastefully decorated by Veronika who has sourced the beautiful furnitures on flea markets around in Italy and France. Elegant porcelain, cristal services and antique silver cutlery adds a touch of luxury. She has managed to create an imaginerary Universe perfect for a magical moment while savouring divine gelato or a warming cup of tea paired with their homemade Italian sweets.
If you appreciate authentic artisanal gelato, where the original taste is the priority nr 1 in a beautiful setting I can truly recommend Il Gelato del Marchese.
