Villa Spalletti Trivelli

During my latest trip to Rome I stayed at the elegant hotel Villa Spalletti Trivelli, member of TemptingPlaces boutique hotels collection. Located on a side street away from the tourist hustle, yet in short walking distance to many must-see places such as the Trevi fountain, the Spanish steps but also the Roman Forum and the Colosseum to mention a few.

The owners of Villa Spalletti Trivelli, the Count Giangiacomo and his wife Susanna, decided in 2004 to restore their historical family residence and together with the Italian architect Piero Alessandrini, they turned it into an exclusive hotel.

This elegant boutique hotel in the heart of Rome takes you on a journey through 100 years of history with original furniture, antiques and family photos from the private collection of the Spalletti Trivelli family. Every room and salons are tastefully decorated with elegance. At the very moment you step into this neoclassical villa you feel immersed in an elegant and discrete atmosphere. 12 rooms and two garden suites, make this familial hotel private and is perfect for people who prefer an authentic stay in a historical city such as Rome.

A gem located in a neoclassical villa with over 100 years of history, in the heart of the eternal city

I truly enjoyed my stay at Villa Spalletti Trivelli, from the warm welcoming at the reception to the check-out where I got help to order a taxi and had my luggage carried out. I stayed in a beautiful room with a splendid view, a welcome letter together with delicious homemade cookies. All rooms are tastefully decorated with original paintings, furnitures, antiques, maps, portraits and old prints and are fully equipped with modern amentities and also a complimentary mini-bar. I watched the sunset from their rooftop (where you can have a dip in one of their private jacuzzi’s, only for hotel guests) with a glass of Spritz and later in the evening I sat in their comfortable sofa in the Sala degli Arazzi going through their photobooks on Rome and just absorbing the beautiful moment feeling the atmosphere of the early 20-th century with all historical decorations in the salon. After a long day of walking on the streets of Rome, it felt good having a hot and relaxing bath in the divine tub in my bathroom with Italian marble from floor to top. A simply perfect treat before wrapping myself in a fluffy bathrobe and slide on the slippers. I couldn’t have had a better sleep on the heavenly bed with therapeutic matress covered with luxurious handmade linen sheets.Β  And one of the highlights was starting the day with a delightful homemade breakfast to the music of my favourite Italian pianist and composer, Ludovico Einaudi. I had looked forward the freshly homemade cakes by their chefs. During my stay I was lucky to try their yoghurtcake, a pearcake, carrotcake, but also a delightful Italian chocolate cake.
The exquisite homemade breakfast buffet was complimentary and consist of croissants, brioches, homemade cakes, selection of breads, jam and marmelade, organic honey, yoghurts, selection of cold cuts, a variety of different cheese, organic buffalo ricotta cheese, organic buffalo mozzarella cheese, fresh fruit salad, fresh fruits in a basket, different fruit juices and hot drinks such as coffee and tea. Fried or scrambled eggs, pancakes or other hot alternatives can also be ordered during the breakfast.

Villa Spalletti Trivelli – perfect for a romantic getaway or honeymoon in Rome, offering an intimate feeling with it’s residency and 12 rooms and two garden suites

The concierges and hotel staff were very friendly, professional and accommodating. Their non intrusive approach added much to my experience of a home away from home.

A visit in the eternal city deserves a special place for an unforgettable stay. If you are looking for the perfect location in Rome, a hideaway off the tourist hustle but walking distance to the main city attractions, in an elegant boutique hotel that gives a feeling of a private residence where you can enjoy spacious common places decorated with antiques, be offered a delightful homemade breakfast buffet in a hotel with a proffesional and friendly staff, I can truly recommend Villa Spalletti Trivelli. The Turkish bath and private jacuzzis (all complimentary) on the rooftop are the cherry on top!

The rooms at Villa Spalletti Trivelli are all named after historical districts in Rome. The name of my room was Campitelli, a neighbourhood where you can find the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.

On the rooftop you'll find several jacuzzi's, to be used only by the hotel's guest. There is also an open bar on the rooftop where I enjoyed a refreshing Spritz in the evening.
