Hotel Brunelleschi in Florence
Hotel Brunelleschi is a luxurious 4-star hotel located in the historical heart of Florence and what’s unique is that a part of the hotel is located in the oldest building in the city, the medieval Pagliazza Tower from the Byzantine period. The hotel is located on the Santa Elisabetta square, very central as you have just a few minutes walk to the Duomo, shoppings streets and museums like the Uffizi Gallery, yet very calm as the square is a bit hidden.
“I’ll be there a week without much to do. Is that an invitation? we’d be living in luxury. They’re giving me a room at the Brunelleschi” – Dan Brown , The Da Vinci Code
If you have read Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code you probably remember he stayed at the Hotel Brunelleschi, and just like him, I had the pleasure to do the same! After my two nights in Venice I took a morning train to Florence where I checked-in to this marvelous hotel, filled with so much history and charm it felt like a dream.
I was warmly greeted at my arrival and shown to my luxurious suite, that felt like a small apartment with its living room, gorgeous bedroom and bathroom with both a shower and bathtub with. I immediately wished my stay would have been one week instead of only one day, but Tuscany was waiting the morning after. However I got to enjoy this charming hotel to the fullest, had a visit to their private museum, a tour visiting their other suites including one with a stunning view over the Duomo! Perfect for a Romantic stay or couples that are on their honeymoon. One of their restaurants, Osteria Della Pagliazza serves food based on traditional recipes from Tuscany, they had a great variety and also a vegan menu! In my next post I will share my vegan lunch experience at Hotel Brunelleschi‘s restaurant Osteria Della Pagliazza in Florence!
I had the most wonderful stay at the beautiful Hotel Brunelleschi. It’s not everyday you find a hotel with so much history and charm. The staff was very friendly and attentive and they made me feel like home. There was also an evening turn down service included. Meaning, when I returned to my suite in the evening, pretty tired after a long day of walking, they had come in to my room, closed the curtains, prepared my bed, the blanket was pulled back so I could just slip in at night…after my relaxing bath in the whirlpool tub ;-) I appreciated their turn down service as a special treat.

Hotel Brunelleschi – Piazza Santa Elisabetta, 3 Florence, Italy
A welcome letter was awaiting me when I arrived to my room at Hotel Brunelleschi….
My suite was huge, this spacious room was my bedroom…with a rooftop view over Florence..
An entrance lounge with TV, sofa, these chairs and a library with books, perfect place to sit and relax. Also there was a big basket filled with fruits. What a nice surprise :-)
The bathroom was spacious too, with a shower part and a whirlpool tub …after a long day of walking along the streets in Florence I can confirm to you that a long relaxing bath was needed.
In the bathroom you’ll find Dr Vranjes fragranced body products..and the whirlpool tub ;-)
I was also offered an exclusive private tour to have a sneak peak in the other suites as I was so curious of the views… This one, the Duomo Suite, was my favourite one, can you see what’s behind the window?
Yes, the iconic landmark of Florence, the Duomo! I took this photo from the window. Imagine having this view at sunrise and sunset, magical <3 Perfect if you want to spend your honeymoon or just spoil your loved one with a romantic weekend with a stunning view.
This is another suite similar to the one I had but with white and bright colours..
And it came with this view. Wow! The Duomo never dissapoints, nomatter what angle you still can’t resist to be impressed by it.
Dr Vranjes mindblowing scent all over the hotel….specially made for Hotel Brunelleschi
Hotel Brunelleschi is the only hotel having a private museum, in the photo above – ceramics that were found during the restoration of the Pagliazza Tower
Roman spa, that you can see while visiting the museum.
Restaurant Santa Maria Elisabetta, open for dinners only and with the setting of only 7 tables makes an intime ambiance..
Here you’ll be able to taste the flavours of Tuscany..in a Byzantine tower, no need to look further if you want to spend a romantic dinner in Florence ;-)
In the morning this breakfast buffet was served in the Stemma Room, where tasty specialities awaits you as a guest..unlike many other hotels, the breakfast at Hotel Brunelleschi is included in the price, and should not be skipped!
At the breakfast buffet you can find everything, from delicious traditional Italian cakes and pastries…to fresh fruits, cold meat, fresh juice, coffee, hot chocolate…
A selection of cheese, my favourite one is the pecorino dolce, do try it whenever you’re in Tuscany!
Homemade Italian almond cake
A homemade crostata di marmellata, a typical Italian jam tart, one of my favourite ones <3
Salmon with raw artichokes, toasted bread and scrambled eggs….perfect start of my morning! Not to forget the obligatory coffee and an Italian newspaper! Not because I know Italian, but because I love the language and believe it’s never too late to learn.
I had never eaten raw artichokes, but it was very tasty and delicious experience, especially together with the salmon.
And as the cherry on top, this plate was brought out to me with sweet and tasty exotic fruits topped with edible and colorful flowers <3
