Château de Vaux le Vicomte

The Palais du Chocolat was held at Château de Vaux le Vicomte, easily accessed within one hour by train and navette from Paris. I had seen photos but yet never visited this castle so it was a great opportunity to see it in combination with the chocolate event. After the chocolate tasting I literally ran out in the gardens of the castle to explore the beautiful fairy tale site. Love at first sight, completely. No wonder many people choose this place for their weddings…I would have, too!!!
Had to return to Paris in the early afternoon, but would love to return and go for a guided tour in the castle and learn about the history and all the key figures behind this impressive château.

What I do know is that Nicolas Fouquet was the creator of this château, Louis le Vaus the architect and André le Nôtre, the gardener who created the gardens of Château de Vaux le Vicomte ( also known as the creator behind the gardens of Château de Versailles, Jardin des Tuileries among others). In jealousy King Louis XIV had the Château de Versailles built inspired by this château…as you can see..I believe there is lots of history to dig into and I hope to return very soon again for a guided tour.

Dear Bao, thanks for your message and kind words :-) I’ve never been going to Château de Vaux Vicomte by car, me and Carol took the train fr Paris to Melun and then a bus, altogether not more than one hour. You should definately go for a tour, in the château and also in the garden when visiting the Palais du Chocolat! Hope you’ll have a wonderful trip!
