Blaise et Basile is a new restaurant I discovered when I, not long ago, was strolling along the Rue Saint-Blaise in the 20th arrondissement in Paris. The restaurant was closed that day, but their menu, displayed on their vitrina, made me curious and I promised myself I had to give this restaurant a try.

Perfect occasion came when a friend of mine was visiting in Paris, we went there for lunch and had a table next to the windows facing the beautiful church Saint-Germain de Charonne.

Since I love asparagus the choice of the starter was quite easy for me, I had “asperges vertes, crème de parmesan, oeuf parfait et speck” (green asparagus with parmesan cream, egg and speck) while my friend had beef tomatoes and cheese. Parfait !

It’s very rare I eat meat but I chose the “paleron braisé, purée de celeri et petits légumes” (braised chuck steak with celery purée and mini veggies) since the waiter explained me that the meat had been prepared under low heating for several hours and that it was tender and soft. A great choice! Loved the “paleron”, had been perfectly prepared, it was very tasty and the veggies were delicious. My friend had the chicken schnitzel which I also got to try and also liked very much.

I was quite full after all the food so for dessert I wanted something light and therefore opted for their fresh fruitsalad topped with whipped cream, heavenly!

As you can see, we both had a great experience at Blaise et Basile, foodwise and when it came to the service, the waiters were very attentive and kind. Would love to go back soon again and try out other courses I found on their menu….
